AM at the JM with Rabbi Sarah Berman
December 7 & 14 Experience the Jewish Museum’s special exhibition Sacred Splendor: Jewish Ritual Art and Christian Treasures from St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague (on view through February 7, 2027) with Rabbi Sarah Berman, Director of Jewish Culture and Programming and clergy at Central Synagogue. Featuring close looking at select ritual objects in the exhibition, these intimate two-session gallery talks will take place outside of the Museum’s public hours, allowing attendees exclusive access to the objects on view. About Rabbi Sarah Berman: Rabbi Sarah Berman joined Central Synagogue in the summer of 2020 after serving the community for two years as a rabbinic intern. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Archaeology and Art History at Brown University, where she was also active in the Reform Chavurah. She then worked for more than a decade at the Seattle Art Museum, researching the museum’s broad permanent collections and serving as curatorial lead for the collections of Ancient Mediterranean and Islamic Art. While in rabbinical school at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, she served as rabbinic intern at Temple Sinai of Bergen County in New Jersey and was a Tisch Intern at Congregation Emanu-El of the City of New York and their Streicker Center for public programming and community education. Her teaching focuses on Jewish art, history, and material culture, as well as on text and prayer.
