Matthew Perlman in Conversation with Darsie Alexander Born in Hungary, painter Suzanne Perlman (1922–2020), fled Europe during World War II, settling in Curaçao, home to the oldest continuously active Jewish community in the Western Hemisphere, where she remained for 50 years. Learn more about her life and work in this talk with Matthew Perlman, Director of the Suzanne Perlman Estate, who will speak about stewarding his grandmother’s legacy and compiling a newly published monograph of her expressionist paintings of figures and landscapes. Perlman will be joined in conversation by Darsie Alexander, Senior Deputy Director and Susan & Elihu Rose Chief Curator for a discussion contextualizing his grandmother’s practice, as it is now being rediscovered, in a broader art historical narrative.
