Dialogue and Discourse

Embodied Histories Enjoy a conversation on the defiant and subversive women that upended gender conventions in Europe’s cosmopolitan spaces at the turn of the century. Dubbed the New Woman, these women entered the public consciousness in cities like Vienna, Paris, and London, transforming conceptions and expectations for the female body. This conversation, featuring Katya Motyl, Associate Professor of History at Temple University, and Juliet Bellow, Associate Professor of Art History at American University, moderated by the Jewish Museum’s Leon Levy Associate Curator Kristina Parsons, is held in conjunction with the exhibition Modernity and Opulence: Women of the Wiener Werkstätte (on view through November 15, 2026). Tickets: $14 General; $10 Students, Seniors, and Jewish Museum members Doors open at 6 pm; Includes Museum Admission
